English fortress from the 19th century
Fortica/Fort George is a medieval fortress built by the British Royal Navy 200 years ago. Today it is a monument of the beautiful architecture of that time, located on the hill above Vis Town and it adorns the entrance to the bay. It is for sure the best place for a perfect sunrise and sunset. Hidden in the forest of pine trees and cypresses that create cosy shade in summer days and romantic scenery, the fortress will surely invite everyone to peek behind its walls. The mere entrance to the fortress is magnificent; after passing through long halls you reach a spacious garden with a restaurant and a bar. The garden provides a central setting for events. If you take stairs further up to the top of the fortress you have to pass through a labyrinth of secret rooms and in the end get out on the huge stone terrace with an amazing view of the Vis bay and nearby islands.
Many will wish this terrace to be the venue of their glamorous wedding celebration.
